NaNoWriMo Day 1 and 2

NaNoWriMo started yesterday and I didn’t get any writing done but I handwrote a little bit of the first chapter the day before to give myself a small head start. Those words added up to 566….this morning I was late to school and missed my first class so I went to the library and put my head down and typed up the whole first and second chapter, which ended up getting me to 1,496 words…so a pretty good start and hopefully I can catch up.
Things that have happened so far:

Carter has gotten the call from the sheriff of a small town called Tosall

She thinks the sheriff is a little strange, I guess I’ll find out why soon

She decided to bring up depressing back story in the second chapter and I had to stop writing because I almost started crying…

Characters introduced:

Carter: My main character who is a PI specialized in paranormal/supernatural anomalies.

Liz: Carter’s dead girlfriend who is around as eyes and ears in the spirit world, she becomes more important later in the story

Sheriff James Hartley: he calls Carter in the middle of the night to ask her for help with a string of strange deaths in his small town.

How is everyone else’s NaNo Going?

  1. Good luck on your NaNoWriMo journey! I participated the last two years, “losing” in 2015 and “winning” in ‘16. I learned a lot both years, such as what it would take to complete such a massive project. I’m focusing on other writing tasks at the moment so it’s NoNaNoWriMo for me, but I’d love to see you accomplish your goal this month. Don’t get too caught up in the word count goal — enjoy the process!

  2. Awesome to hear that you’re currently at 1,496 words so far! May you have continued success in all that you write.

I’m enjoying NaNoWriMo so far. I’m writing a sequel to my post-apocalyptic story, and I’m dedicating the first three days of the month exclusively to plotting. So far I’ve written character summaries, thematic elements, and an outline of my entire story using the Hero’s Journey approach. I have to say, I feel like I have a solid grasp of my story as a whole already! Also, I’m currently at 6,612 words. I can’t wait to officially start chapter one on Saturday 🙂

  3. Fab, good start. Wish I had the time, energy and computer to take part, haven’t written any fiction in months. I have one and a bit of a trilogy written which hasn’t been looked at in ages.
